WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM AN EYE EXAM?

Eye exams include a number of diagnostic tests that allow your eye doctor to look at the entirety of your eye health, including structure and function, as well as test your prescription. The American Optometry Association recommends having an eye exam every 2 years, though most eye doctors recommend annual exams.

This exam frequency allows your eye doctor to detect slowly developing eye diseases, including glaucomaage-related macular degeneration, and others. Early detection can help you manage these issues. Some eye diseases can not be prevented or cured, but with the help of your eye doctor, it is possible to mitigate symptoms and vision loss.

During your exam, your eye doctor will confirm your health and ocular history as well as your family’s health and ocular history. The more information we have, the better your eye doctor can tailor the examination to you. They will also answer any questions or concerns you might have regarding your eye health and vision. Please ask as many questions as you want!

During the examination, we will test your acuity and determine your prescription. We will also check your eye muscle movement and coordination. After this, we will review the overall condition and health of your eyes. Tests and technology include a fundus camera, an OCT, intraocular pressure measurements, and more. Once we have tested your visual quality and eye health, we will recommend any glasses and contact lenses, medications, or surgery you may need.

GLASSES & CONTACT LENSES

If you have never had glasses, this is an excellent opportunity to celebrate and customize your unique style. Our experienced opticians can help you find the perfect pair of frames in the size you need, so you know your glasses will fit well.
