WHAT IS MYOPIA?

Myopia is a common refractive error that causes your distance vision to be blurry, while your near vision remains relatively clear. Myopia can start during childhood, and usually progresses as a child grows.

Aside from affecting your vision, uncorrected myopia can also cause headaches, ocular discomfort, and even focusing problems.

YOUR CHILD & MYOPIA

Myopia doesn’t just affect adults. 1 in 4 parents in America have a child with myopia.

Myopia can develop early in life, affecting your child’s ability to see in the distance or even focus for long periods. Some research has found that digital devices, including smartphones, tablets, televisions, and computers, can lead to the development of myopia.

While there is no way to completely prevent myopia, the best way to manage and mitigate its symptoms is by making sure your child has regular eye exams. Early detection can help slow down the progression of the condition.
