Dr. Shayma Jawad is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma, cataracts, and comprehensive eye care. With a deep commitment to preserving and restoring vision, she combines advanced surgical skill with a patient-centered approach to deliver exceptional care.

Dr. Jawad’s academic journey began at Johns Hopkins University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Near Eastern Studies—a unique blend reflecting scientific precision and cultural depth. She then pursued a Master’s in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University, concentrating on integrative health—a foundation that continues to inform her holistic view of patient care.

She received her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internship and ophthalmology residency at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. Her passion for glaucoma led her to pursue advanced fellowship training at the West Virginia University Eye Institute, where she gained extensive expertise in the latest surgical and medical treatments for this complex condition.

Before entering medical school, Dr. Jawad contributed to groundbreaking research in clinical immunology at the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Clinically, she is proficient in the full spectrum of glaucoma care, including traditional and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) and cataract surgery.
