Peter Wawrzusin, MD

Dr. Peter Wawrzusin is a seasoned Comprehensive Ophthalmologist renowned for his expertise in Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, distinguishing himself by being elected as chief resident. Building on this foundation, he pursued a fellowship in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery and served as a clinical educator at Nassau University Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Medical School.

A Maryland native, Dr. Wawrzusin's journey included impactful research at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, where he contributed to the development of high-resolution imaging systems. Graduating with honors from Georgetown University School of Medicine as an Alpha Omega Alpha inductee, his research spans both basic sciences and clinical applications, earning publication in esteemed medical journals. Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds joy in traveling and enjoys soccer and golf. He's also proficient in Spanish.

In addition to conditions treated by a comprehensive ophthalmologist, Dr. Wawrzusin specializes in laser refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK/PTK), dry eye evaluation and treatment, diseases and treatment of the cornea, corneal infections, keratoconus treatment (corneal cross-linking), full thickness or partial thickness corneal transplantation (PKP, DSEK, DMEK, DALK), advanced cataract and lens implantation, astigmatism (toric) and presbyopia (multifocal) correcting lens implantation, ocular surface surgery and reconstruction, pterygium excision.
